Community Graveyard Project at St. Assams Church, Raheny - Day 2 (Copy)

On Day 2 of our cultural and historical project, we were honoured to join three other local schools for a day of talks and discussions regarding St. Assams Church in Raheny. Gathering at All Saints Church, we were given the chance to explore Raheny and St. Assams Church through the ages, from its early beginnings during the time of the Celts, to the current day. Thank you to Medieval Historian Dr. Grace O’Keeffe (Trinity College), Geographer & Cartographer Dr. Ruth McManus (DCU) & Raheny Heritage Society (Douglas Appleyard, Joan Sharkey & Noel Carolan), for their enthusiastic, rich and informative talks.

Keep up with the conservation and surveying efforts of St. Assams Church in Raheny, by visiting the site Historic Graves. This group endeavours to explore, protect and promote the rich history within our communities, by preserving and enhancing our local grave sites. Not only will this allow us the opportunity to connect with our past, it enhances tourism within our communities. Visit the site to see if you can spot the fab surveying that our students contributed to!
